ELIM Statement of Beliefs
1. The Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
2. The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit —equal in power and glory.
3. God the Father
We believe God the Father is Creator of all things and sovereign ruler over the universe. He lovingly cares for His creation and desires that all people come to repentance and faith.
4. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return personally and visibly.
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, indwells them at conversion, and empowers them for godly living and service.
6. Humanity
We believe that all people are created in the image of God but fell into sin through disobedience. As a result, all humanity is spiritually lost and in need of salvation.
7. Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Christ’s death provides redemption and forgiveness of sins for all who believe. Salvation cannot be earned by human effort or works.
8. The Church
We believe the universal Church consists of all those since Pentecost who believe in the atoning work of Jesus Christ and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit . The local church exists to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, disciple believers, and serve the world. We believe that the Israel is God's elect nation, and that the Church does not replace and separate Israel for God's covenental promises.
9. Ordinances
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: Baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper. These are acts of obedience and testimony, not means of salvation.
10. Christian Living
We believe believers are called to live holy lives through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, demonstrating love, righteousness, and obedience to Christ.
11. The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ in the air, to gather His Bride, the Church, prior to the 7 year Tribulation. We anticipate His return to the earth at the conclusion of the Tribulation, to establish His millennial kingdom, and then to inaugurate the new heavens and the new earth.
12. Eternal Destiny
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: believers to eternal life with God, and unbelievers to eternal separation from God.
